Broadly there are two approaches to resolving these issues: Session scaling. This limits the resolution handled by the VDA, improving server scalability. The down side to this is that text and other fine detail images may appear blurry due to the scaling. No session scaling. An unscaled session will display at a higher resolution rather than scaling up the session. Consequently, text, icons, and other objects can appear much smaller than those on the endpoint monitor.
However, if specific Citrix component versions and Windows OS version requirements are met, the DPI value on the endpoint monitor can be matched for the desktop session so that text and icon sizes will match that of the endpoint monitor.
This refers to endpoint setups where different DPI scaling settings have been configured across multiple monitors. Change the settings as required. Click Apply and OK. Note: You can hide all or part of the Advanced Preferences sheet available from the Citrix Workspace app icon in the notification area.

Symptoms or Error Scenario : Users using notebooks and working with full screen sessions without desktop viewer to access their Citrix session, aka mobile thin client. The users usually have a docking station and two identical monitors at their workplace.
When these users come back from a meeting and re-dock into their docking station the Citrix session gets reconnected, as desired. Unfortunately the Citrix session doesn't recognize the second screen anymore. Instead, the window opens with scroll bars horizontally and vertically using the old screen resolution.
Display looks like below while re-docking the Notebook and reconnecting the session using Citrix Receiver 4. Because it's a full screen view of the screen the user then has no other choice than to restart the session to get this fixed.
This issue is seen only when working with dual monitor and full screen session without desktop viewer. The notebook remains closed. Remove the notebook from the docking station without opening the notebook. Reconnect the notebook to the docking station without opening the notebook. If the matching resolution is found, then the desktop with that resolution is given, else the desktop with the nearest supported resolution is given.
In some cases, the use case might require a specific desktop resolution, for example x, which is not available at the VDA side then it can be added as a custom resolution in the GPU control panel on VDA. When users try to connect from any tablets, the screen resolution of the tablet should be known. Once the resolution is identified, they must check on the VDA side to see if it is available. Changing the desktop resolution within the session is not supported. If the resolution change is required then following procedure should be used:.
If the desktop is in full screen mode then change the client local screen resolution, disconnect and reconnect. If the desktop is in windowed mode, then resize the desktop window to the desired size, disconnect, and reconnect to get the desired desktop resolution. So, for dual monitor desktop, VDA should have two or more monitors attached. These monitors can be physical or virtual.
On first connection, the desktop might be displayed in the single monitor mode only. To get true multi-monitor desktop, move the desktop window across 2 monitors on client and maximize the desktop using desktop viewer toolbar at the top so that it spans across two monitors.
Now disconnect and reconnect the desktop. On reconnect, the desktop displays in true multi-monitor mode. Note : Select this option only when View system topology is not visible. I believe I read somewhere that using multiple monitors with different resolutions is not officially supported by Citrix, but I'm hoping someone has a work-around, as nothing I have found seems to solve my issue and the Citrix Workspace application is mostly useless for me at this point.
Both monitors are running at a resolution of x The start menu bar isn't positioned correctly and the mouse position is wrong, meaning the active area is inches away from where I click. I usually have to force close the window in order to exit, as there's no way to click on the 'Start' menu. See screenshot1 attached. I am running what I believe is the latest version of the Citrix Workspace app, I have tried all three options with no success. See screenshot2 attached. I would be grateful for any ideas or suggestions for potential solutions.
Next, connect to your Cloud Desktop and then switch to Window mode. Once in Window mode, stretch the edges of the window so that you are spanning it across both external monitors and have almost full coverage of both monitors. Finally, switch to full screen mode and then logoff don't disconnect your Cloud Desktop session. Once the session ends, open your Surface Book's cover again, wait for Windows to reconfigure the displays so that all three are working again, then reconnect to your Cloud Desktop.

How or where would I check this? Alozzy - I have tried your suggested solution, but unfortunately it did not work for me. I was hopeful it would, as this is the first suggestion I have seen online that addresses the idea of essentially disabling the default display by closing the lid of the Surface Book.
Unfortunatley, the behavior of the remote desktop is still the same The only solution I have found that is actually manageable and usable is to start the Citrix Workspace app and connect to the remote desktop session, then once the desktop loads, press the SHIFT-F2 key combination, which places the desktop into windowed mode, which is unusable due to the resolution issue noted in my original post.
One of my co-workers pointed out that once the desktop has finished loading and is running in windowed mode, I can right click on the window title bar at the top of the screen and select the 'Resize Session' option. I can then drag this window to one of my external monitors and click the 'full screen' box in the upper right and it fits my external monitor screen perfectly, but still allows me to access my local desktop and task bar on all three monitors. The only drawback is that there appears to be no way to save these settings between sessions.
